Evidence of Work:
This is the first project of the year and I believe that is was very successful. Our mission was to bring in something from home to take apart and analyze the materials and what we could do to improve our product. I brought in a table fan which we then used for our group project. This fan was probably from the early 2000s so it was interesting to see the difference in fans then and fans now. Our overall question was "how can we make this fan more efficient and what materials could we use to make it safer?". This question sprung our creativity to explore the components of this fan and go into detail about all the parts that made this fan. Were the materials safe and efficient? There were many steps that my group and I had to take to reach our goal of answering this question which started with taking apart very little component and sketching them in our notebooks, all the way to making our final slides presentation.
After analyzing our components and doing some extensive research, my group and I came up with a few ideas on how we could improve this fan. One way we could do this would be by using a safer, less hazardous plastic, as well as possibly changing the blade shape and the material used to produce the blades. This would greatly increase the efficiency because the blades would be able to hold their shape instead of getting bent from the air going through it. Changing the type of plastic to a safer plastic would also cut the risk of this product causing cancer and other related illnesses. The main feature that my group focused on upgrading was the material used for the outside and fan blades because we felt that that is where the fan needed the most help.

Content:
Reverse engineering: The reproduction of another manufacturer's product following detailed examination of its construction or composition. This was our project as a whole.
Invention: Something that was built for the purpose of being useful in one way or another. This pertains to how our fan was invented and why.
Innovation: This is when something has already been created, but you modify it to make it more efficient. We wanted to be innovative with our fan design.
Material analysis: An in depth look at the materials used in a product and why those materials were used. We did a full material analysis on our fan and came up with conceptual sketches to show our materials.
Manufacturing analysis: An in depth look at the creation of the product using raw materials. This was useful for us to get a better understanding about the product and how t construct it better.
Funcional analysis: An in depth look at the functions of a system and how those systems work together and contribute to the overall product. This helped my group to understand how the fan worked from the inside out.
Structural analysis: An in depth look at how the product is structured and how sturdy it is. We analyzed our structure and felt that there could be many changes to make it more structurally sound.

Reflection:
There are many things that my teammates and I did right, but also a few things that we could improve on. In my opinion, I felt that my group and I did a very good job delegating out certain tasks to people and getting those tasks done when we wanted them to be done. Another thing that I felt we really succeeded in was making our slides as clear as possible so everyone in the class could understand our product just as much as we did. These two things may seem small but were huge contributors to our success as a team.
A few things we could have managed better would probably be our time management as well as communication. With the time we were given, I believe that we could have worked more efficiently and gotten things done a little bit quicker so we didn't have to worry about it at the end before it was due. We also had a lack of communication in my group. We didn't all have each other's numbers which made it hard for us to communicate after school with any ideas we had. Next project I would really like to improve communication issues by getting everyone's phone numbers first and making a group chat where we can all be in touch and share our ideas.
