The Physics of a Back Handspring
For our our second stem project we did a video showing how to do or play a certain sport. My group chose a back handspring which is performed by gymnasts and cheerleaders mostly but really anyone can learn. Our first few days were choosing our task that we were going to complete and writing up a script and a story board. After finishing this we started filming the back handspring and ourselves talking on Jessica's gopro. The gopro was very helpful to film us writing on the whiteboard as you can see in our video because of its fisheye lens. this enables you to video 360* so we could see the whole whiteboard. After all the videoing was done we used an app to put it all together like an actual movie.
Concepts
For this project we used many different concepts in order to have all of our data.
1. p=mv: this equation is for momentum. We calculated momentum by multiplying mass times velocity. This was the momentum i got from swinging my arms
2. c=2(pi)r: this is the circumference that my arms traveled in order to get the momentum
3.d=5/8c+7/8c: this was the distance that my arms actually traveled
4.v=change in time/change in velocity: this is how fast my arms actually traveled

Reflection
Overall I think my group did really well with our project. We all had had something to do all the time and we spaced out our work so we didn't just rush through it all in the end. Probably what we could have done better was some of our video skills. we could have cured some of the hiccups in our video such as the voice over running through into another slide. I learned how to make a movie and use a new app to make that movie. I also learned how to download gopro videos on the computer because I have a gopro I just never knew how to do that. I probably could have done more calculation or helped out with that part a little more. But overall i think everyone in the group was working hard and we did get it all done.
