The Hippie Mobile
Our project was to build a car that was low cost and energy efficient so my group did exactly that. Mind you it did take a few tries...we started off with making a list of possible energy efficient cars. We had ideas from building a rubber band car, to a coke and mentos motor, to a balloon powered car, and my favorite was the idea of having a pet be attached to a car and having it run to the finish line. My group kicked off with the balloon car idea. We sketched and researched and we were set until we figured out that it didn't have enough power to actually make the car go five meters. So we tossed that idea and came up with a new one. A coke and mentos powered car. We were absolutely set on that one we build the car, bought the coke and mentos, and we are testing it, but when we put it on the ground it didn't run. So we went back to the drawing board and decided just to do a rubber band car. This car worked the first time and went five meters. We stuck with this car. Our assignment was to build a car that would run on its own and go exactly five meters.
Concepts
There weren't very many concepts used with this particular project.
1. PEe=1/2kx^2: this equation is used to find the spring constant which is the rubber band. It is called the potential energy elastic.
2. KE=1/2mv^2: This is the kinetic energy. The kinetic energy is energy due to motion
3. we also had thermal energy which is the energy that is lost to friction when you are running your car

Reflection
This was project was really fun and I loved working with the group I had. I think that my group worked super well together there was just some problems with focusing at some points. I learned a lot about energy doing this project. I also learned how to make a graph with the data that I had entered on google sheets. Another thing I learned was how to take a good leader position over my peers and help them stay on task. Fort this project I could have maybe researched a little more on if it was feasible to actually make the coke and mentos work because that wasted a lot of time that we could have been building a car that would actually work. I need to work on time management. I feel that given the obstacles my group had to overcome we did end up making a really great car that had the style to go with it.
